| Our Accident Investigation Services were established in 1998 to provide the insurance
and legal sectors with a state-of-the-art investigation and analysis service for road
accidents. We have been involved in two distinct types of accident analysis, namely accident visualisation and accident
simulation. Visualisation uses Virtual Reality 3-D computer graphics to recreate
an accident. Forensic evidence from before, during and after an accident, together with
data obtained from a vehicle's 'Black Box' where applicable, is used to generate an
animated representation of an incident.
Simulation offers the accident investigator an opportunity to 'fill the gaps' of
unknown motion and timing data, between the start and end of an accident. Mathematical
data, derived from forensic evidence from vehicles and the crash site, is used to build a
computer model of the accident with the aim predicting of the motion, speeds and forces
involved, which may not be available by forensic or other means. The results may be used
to produce an accident visualisation.
Features of our service include:
- Site and vehicle inspections by qualified accident investigators
- Virtual Reality capabilities to support visual analysis of the 'who saw what and when'
aspects of an accident
- Analytical methods to provide the mathematical reconstruction of the dynamics of an
accident
- Provision of Expert Witnesses
- On-going research and development in the technology of accident analysis to maintain
leading-edge position
