Child Model

Head injuries differ greatly among paediatric, child, and adult populations, in terms of acute presentation, post acute rehabilative course and long-term/permanent clinical outcome. CIC are investigate head injury in infants by modelling a child head and studying its dynamic response under a specific loading. A simulation of a 3D Finite Element Child Model, representing a scenario of a child (18 months) falling onto the back of its head on a carpet (soft surface) from 20 cm height is shown here. These results are preliminary findings, which at present are not validated against other studies, due to the lack of information available in this field.
