Interior Design
Vehicle interiors have an important role to play in contributing to occupant comfort
and protection. Engineers can use the interior components to aid them in designing the
mechanisms that transfer the forces and energy from a vehicle structure to an occupant
with reduced risk of injuries.
CIC has the expertise to develop concepts through to final designs in order to make the
passenger cell a safer place during a crash.
The strength and energy absorption properties of the components together with their
geometry is developed using the latest CAE tools (including OASYS-DYNA3D, PAM-CRASH,
MADYMO, IDEAS and HYPERMESH) into computer models that enable CIC's engineers to examine
and optimise the features and characteristics of the interior components.
Component testing plays its part in the techniques used by CIC and guarantees that
models represent the true physical reality of the interior parts.
