FIA Testing
CIC is one of only a few FIA approved centres for
racing car impact testing. We are able to carry out a full range of tests, for research or
certification, these include:
- Front, rear and side impact tests
- Roll hoop and steering wheel tests
- Panel intrusion
- Side crush/squeeze tests
We have been supporting racing organisations teams since early 1980s, helping to format
safety standards and design and development of the vehicle to comply with the set
standards. Amongst the services provided by CIC are:
- Design, development, analysis and prototype testing of vehicle structures/sub-structures
- Driver simulation incorporating the design, development and analysis of restraint
systems ( 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 point seat belts) and protective surfaces ( air bags, foam
covering, etc.)
- Modelling and analysis of vehicle to protective crash barrier impacts
- Design, development and testing of competition seats and restraint systems to the
required standards
- The testing of F1 and Indy cars and sub-structures to the
required standards
- The measurement of vehicle dynamics parameters such as moments of
inertia etc.
